Wire mesh DOKA-MONO

The wire mesh elements were bolted into frames and uses as a railing infill for this project in France.

The idea of the architect was to maintain the vertical wires, so that the mesh follows the inclination of the stairs, which was consideren in the design of the frames.

DOKA-MONO 1591 was used for the bridge cladding by the architects from Demathieu & Bard. The HAVER Architectural Mesh DOKA-MONO 1591 with an open area of 79 % is a very robust mesh with high transparency, which is popular as railing and balustrade infill.

Build over a period of approx. four years, this magnificent building now boasts over 62,000 square meters of exclusive space for exhibitions, conferences, restaurants and other functions.

The eye-catching feature of this building is the vast canopy on the main sea front facade It provides effective sun protection and with its wave-shape perfectly continues the architectural concept Over 130 meters in length and 20 meters wide, approx. 400 wire cloth elements of differing formats and geometries cover the surface area of over 5,500 square meters.

Made from DOKA-MONO 1601 the lengths of the single trapezoidal elements vary from one to 25 meters They are attached to the framework using the HAVER & BOECKER tension profile and clevis screw system.

HAVER & BOECKER conducted on-site measuring, manufacturing and fabrication, thus guaranteeing that every single element was precisely tailored and tensioned. The delivery to site and the support of the installation by the HAVER & BOECKER team secured a smooth and on time installation.

"Silkily" gentle living accents

The silk factory Winterthur, known as "Sidi", started in the year 1872 and quickly became the largest of it's kind in Switzerland.The canton of Zurich purchased the areal in 1970. Years later they called out an architectural competition in order to transform the areal into a residential neighbourhood. The owner's main idea and request was to develop "exemplatary house building while maintaining it's industrial character".

When detailing the project current trends in house building and design were incorporated. The wide balcony layers in the courtyard became the key architectural element. They lend a calming and relaxing characteristic to the building and link a timeless textile design to the history of the areal.

It was a quick and easy decision to use architectural wire mesh DOKA-MONO 1601. The geometric design on the wire mesh was achieved by means of sandblasting, allowing the natural color of the stainless steel to be maintained.

To continue the architectural concept of the exterior marquee, wire mesh elements made from DOKA-MONO 1601 complement the aesthetics of the facade design in the foyer and entrance hall building.

Again, hardly any element has the same dimension or the same shape.

The subframing consists of a standard system using T-profiles, which are coated in an anthracite colour. The wire mesh elements are bent twice by 90°.

This room is also used for conferences and meetings. To improve the acoustics black coloured absorbing mats were inserted on top of the wire cloth elements.

Small wire mesh elements made from DOKA-MONO 1601 with a backing layer have been specially formed for this project.

The result is the form of a fish, that serves as a sun protecting canopy at this apartment building in the spanish city of Marbella.

Two layers ofwire mesh DOKA-MONO 1601 create fascinating Moiré effects. At the same time the illuminated elements serve as exterior partitions.

The arts concept creates a series of steel rainwater collection channels and vertical surfaces that highlights the movement and expression of rainwater. The art piece works at two levels. The sculpture is made up of a series of undulating steel plates that vary in their undulating pattern. These overlap each other, and overlay like leaves on a tree to create a series of interweaving channels. The collection happens both within open U-channel and on the surfaces of the architectural mesh, and will permit water to percolate its way downward.

The length of each of three sculptural elements is 10 meters and 5 meter high, with the overall length of the concrete podium at 25 meters. The total length of channels is on the order of 500 meters. The longest channel per sculpture is about 11 meters long.

There are approximately 825 perforations in the channels, located at 75 mm on-center, and two panels per sculpture of architectural stainless steel wire cloth that vary in weave and open area, which have been supplied by our US location W.S. Tyler. At the scale of the site, the sculptures are located at the edge of this heavily-traveled path, at the front entry of Engleman Hall at Southern Connecticut State University.

The art piece will collect rainwater and retain the water for a short while after rainstorms. The water will be allowed to slowly trickle down and offer students, administrators, professors, and visitors the calming sound of water trickling from one to another stainless channel and mesh surface.

The architects from Quelderie clad the façade with the HAVER Architectural Mesh DOKA-MONO 1601. A special feature is the lacquered lettering on the wire mesh elements. The stainless steel mesh is particular popular because of its homogeneous appearance.

HAVER Architectural Mesh offers an elegant appearance as fall protection and balustrade infill and meets the highest demands in terms of safety and stability. Depending on the application, different types of mesh and alloys are available which are particularly resistant to weathering and mechanical influences.

In the Swiss village Urdorf, the painted stainless steel mesh type DOKA-MONO 1601 was used as balustrade infill. The all-round folded mesh elements including notching are built into frames and give the balustrade textile elegance despite its stability.
 

The housing shortage in many urban centers and also in the greater area of Paris is a major problem, especially for young people. To address this problem a new students´ hostel was built in St. Denis, a vibrant and modern city in the north of Paris.  Numerous cultural events and places of interest such as the Gothic Saint-Denis Basilica, the Cité Européenne du Cinéma or the national stadium Stade de France characterize the regional cityscape.

One striking feature of the newly constructed student accommodation is the golden façade.

Architect Alain SARFATI chose HAVER Architectural Mesh for the façade design. The golden façade is not only eye-catching but provides effective sun protection. To meet with the technical demands wire mesh type DOKA-MONO 1851 was selected.

The combination of a square mesh type and 58 % transparency provides the façade with a homogeneous golden curtain. The architectural mesh follows the aesthetic holistic of the building without significantly compromising the view from the inside through the windows. To achieve the golden appearance the stainless steel mesh was given a coloured PET coating.

The complex geometry of 28 mesh elements, each with a length of 24 meters was tensioned at the substructure using flat tension profiles, clevis screws and pressure springs. For the required intermediate fixing round bars located behind the wire mesh were used.

According to plans by the architect Sascha Werth, a two-storey building was built on the banks of Germany's third-largest water reservoir, which offers with an area of around 600 m² plenty of space for training rooms, boats and material storage as well as apartments for students.

Eyecatcher is a transparent sail of made wire mesh. The 7 m high and 5 m wide sail was made from HAVER Architectural Mesh DOKA-MONO 1851.
