Cable mesh MULTI-BARRETTE

Two different mesh types were used at this fashion store in Barcelona:

• Ceiling: DOKAWELL-MONO 3001
• Walls: MULTI-BARRETTE 8106

At first glance the MULTI-BARRETTE 8106 wire mesh elements are hardly visible, since they are installed behind wooden panels. With proper illumination the wire mesh gives a nice metallic shine to the wooden construction.

Acoustical panels are located behind the wire mesh layers. The round wires transfer a large degree of sound rays into the actual acoustic layer, rather than simply reflecting them back into the room, which significantly enhances the acoustics.

In the lobby of the Mannheimer Swartling law office two different mesh types has been used.

The architect decided to use MULTI-BARRETTE 8106 for the desk to get a sober and a  special welcome feeling for the office. The first thing you see when you enter this office is this desk.

TEXTURA on the wall has two purposes: First of all it is a work of art and with the play of light it lends an individual character to the lobby. It is also there to improve the acoustics of the office, using an acoustic material behind the mesh.

Both are working separately from each other and have their own flow of customers. To minimize disruptions in either office area, a guiding structure was designed in the center of the room (entrance with separate access for each office, partition).

The central partition curves as a guidance line between the "community office" and "licensing" areas. It separates the areas functionally without fully dividing the room."

The illumination creates exciting and depending on the vieweing angle different light reflexions.

The elements made from metal mesh MULTI-BARRETTE 8106 were tensioned with the Haver & Boecker system flat tension profile and clevis screw.

Wire cloth specifications of the type MULTI-BARRETTE are made from solid rods and flexible cable clusters. The rods give stability to the mesh, the cables flexibility. Architectural wire mesh claddings with MULTI-BARRETTE create a light and semitransparent skin. Depending on the viewing angle the wire mesh façade appears transparent or closed.

In total 200 m² of wire mesh type MULTI-BARRETTE 8130 were installed in different sizes from one to maximum seven meter. The woven wire mesh elements were installed with partly inserted round rods and welded flat profiles.

The railway station „Økern T-Bane” is located between the stations of Hasle and Risløkka, in the North of Oslo. The architect Guttorm Bruskeland designed the station which opened on 16 October 1966.

Wire cloth specifications of the type MULTI-BARRETTE are made from solid rods and flexible cable clusters. The rods give stability to the mesh, the cables flexibility. Architectural wire mesh claddings with MULTI-BARRETTE create a light and semitransparent skin. Depending on the viewing angle the wire mesh façade appears transparent or closed.

In total 770 m² wire mesh type MULTI-BARRETTE 8130 were installed in different sizes from one to maximum seven meters. The woven wire mesh elements were installed with partly inserted round rods and welded flat profiles.

The Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) in London is one of the most famous museums in the world. It houses the world's largest collection of decorative art and design from over two millennia. The extensive collections include exhibits from the fields of paintings, sculptures, architecture, ceramics, furniture, fashion, textiles, theatre, photography, glass, jewelry and metalwork.

In the eastern Scottish coastal city of Dundee, a second V&A museum was being built in close cooperation with the museum in London. It opened its doors to the public on September 15, 2018. As the flagship of Dundee’s waterfront development, the museum will act as a magnet for the city’s regeneration, attracting inward investment and tourism, and creating new jobs and opportunities.

V&A Dundee is the only V&A museum in the world outside of London. The new museum, with a total area of 8,000 m², will not only bring V&A exhibitions to Scotland, it will also develop its own exhibitions. On 1,650 m² gallery space the museum will feature in addition to approximately 300 exhibits from the V&A collection, exhibition pieces from museums and private collections of Scotland and around the world.
The internationally renowned architect Kengo Kuma, who is also designing the National Stadium for the Olympic Games 2020 in Tokyo, created the building at the center of Dundee’s historic riverside. He was inspired by the cliffs along the east coast of Scotland. Curved concrete walls made of pre-cast rough stone panels create the appearance of a Scottish cliff face.

Behind the curved walls inside the building, a glittering elevator shaft attracts visitors' attention. Woven wire mesh from Haver & Boecker cover the glass elevator that connects the atrium to the next floor.

Versatility, robustness and exclusive optic make HAVER Architectural Mesh the ideal material for designing interior areas. The used cable mesh MULTI-BARRETTE 8130, with an open area of 46 %, gives the elevator cladding a modern appearance, which shines through with a special elegance. The woven cables give the mesh structure, while the rods reflect light over their entire surface. Depending on the viewing angle, the elevator cladding appears opaque or transparent.

Modern design with functionality and sustainability

The walls of the Theatre Hall are clad with bronze wire mesh type MULTI-BARRETTE 8123, which underlines the exclusivity of the ambience due it´s colour. The elegance of the wire mesh allows interaction with various light reflections and gives the mesh a unique aesthetic.

The wire mesh was specifically designed for the acoustic requirements of the theatre. The mesh is coated with clear varnish, canted to the edges and glued into black-coated aluminium frames. Due to their structure, the wire mesh types combine air permeability and acoustic neutrality with an optically closed and homogeneous overall picture.

So as not to affect the homogeneous appearance of the decorative wire mesh claddings, HAVER & BOECKER developed a special invisible fastening system whereby the cassette elements remain removable.



Architectural Mesh – Qatar National Convention Centre

The ceilings and walls inside the Qatar National Convention Centre are clad with 6,000 m² of architectural wire mesh made by HAVER & BOECKER. To meet the exclusive requirements of the room’s ambience, the designers chose bronze and stainless steel wire mesh. The high-quality aesthetic of the architectural mesh, as well as the excellent long-life properties, non-flammability, easy maintenance and recyclability, made choosing HAVER & BOECKER wire mesh an easy decision for the client.

In addition to the Theatre Hall, the Conference Hall and the Internal Art Wall, pre-finished cassettes of architectural wire mesh by HAVER & BOECKER were also made for the VVIP room and other meeting rooms. To get a precise fit, custom made solutions were developed for the corner and ceiling areas.

Modern design with functionality and sustainability

The large Internal Art Wall consists of two walls, both of which are covered on one side with stainless steel mesh type MULTI-BARRETTE 8123.

The wall claddings consist of canted meshes which are glued onto stainless steel coloured aluminium frames.

The wire mesh frames with integrated insulation were specially designed by HAVER & BOECKER for the underlying air conditioning.


Architctural Wire Mesh – Qatar National Convention Centre

During the renovation of the "Stadttheater" in Bielefeld, the architect put a lot of attention to the interior design. Above the red-covered-seats waves a sinuous ceiling made from MULTI-BARRETTE 8123. The wide archs of the mesh conceal floodlight bridges and acoustical sails.

The ceiling is sound and light permeable. The full volume above the mesh is available for acoustic purposes. If required the director can integrate the mesh ceiling into his production as a backlit sky.

With varying illumination the flexible mesh ceiling is a distinctive eye-catcher and at the same time alters the acoustic conditions according to the different requirements of spectacles and operas.

For the cladding of the front and back facade HAVER & BOECKER supplied 730 m² of MULTI-BARRETTE 8123. The elements, 5.60 meters high and 2.40 m wide, were installed using round rods at the top and additional tensioning springs at the bottom. Intermediate mountings consisted of round rods with incorporated pendular clips.

The mesh facade is mainly used for sun protection of the "Faliro Olympic Complex" office buildings.

Wire mesh cladding

The architectural mesh cladding creates a light, transparent skin - mainly due to its high open area - that creates varying light reflections depending on the sun position and viewing perspective.

The metallic body shell consists of various wire mesh elements with a standard size of 20 m x 2.50 m. In total 44 wire mesh elements has been installed with the tension system of round bars, eyebolts and pressure springs.

To close the horizontal distance between the wire mesh façade and the actual building wall, the bottom side of the mesh elements is deflected by 90°. The canopy is also cladded with architectural wire mesh, which covers all five areas of the canopy to enhance the optical impression of a homogeneous façade.

To be able to provide security in case of electrical storms as well, lightning conductors were installed. All mesh elements are connected with each other to discharge the energy of thunderbolts into the earth.

In close collaboration with the architect and contractor, HAVER & BOECKER engineered and calculated the complex substructure. In total 1.660 m² of wire mesh type MULTI-BARRETTE 8123 have been delivered and installed by HAVER & BOECKER.

HAVER & BOECKER was also responsible for the complete installation of the wire mesh elements as partly of the substructure.
 

For the renovation of the car park at the Ernst-Reuter-Platz also the façade received a facelift.  For this the similar, but slightly different mesh types MULTI-BARRETTE 8123 and MULTI-BARRETTE 8301 have been combined next to each other.

HAVER & BOECKER supplied ready-to-install elements inclusive attached tension devices, such as eyebolts and springs.

Wire meshelements made from MULTI-BARRETTE 8123 with a maximum length of 6,2 m from the entrance to this private residence in Switzerland.

Key feature of this facade is the oval design at the top mounting.

The company logos are attached to the building through the mesh.

The wire mesh elements offer an exciting contrast to the yellow facade, but still fit into the concept of the building.

Special tensioning systems complete this project in the italian city Parma.

This office building of a local health insurance in the spanish city of Salamanca was equipped with a wire cloth facade. The wire mesh elements were installed in front of a glass facade - also acting as sun protections screens.

HAVER & BOECKER supplied ready-to-install-panels of MULTI-BARRETTE 8123 and support the local contractor during installation.

Crystal Business Center is located in the ideal center of Sofia, at an extremely communicative place – at the corner of “Todor Alexandrov” blvd. with “Osogovo” str., only 50 metres of “Mall of Sofia” and 500 metres of the Parliament.

Crystal Business Center is an administrative building, conformable to the highest standards of effectuation and management – class AAA. The interior and exterior design is suitable with the newest trends in the construction of office buildings of this type.

For sun protection purposes, wire mesh elements made from MULTI-BARRETTE 8123 with the rods running vertically are installed in front of glass panes. The horizontal cables allow the mesh to curve allong a preformed substructure. HAVER & BOECKER supplied 23 pre-bent panels for a total of almost 290 m².

The building is clad in prepatinated copper which gives it a blue/green maritime glow.

The main Le Bordage elevation is sun shaded and adorned with specially made aluminium castings and stainless steel mesh /rigging to continue the maritime theme.

This project in the lobby of "1 Queen Street" building in Toronto also includes a gate made from architectural mesh MULTI-BARRETTE 8123.

HAVER & BOECKER supplied cu-to-size piece. The final fabricationg and installation was conducted by Soheil Mosun.

A 70m high glass lift system with a self-supporting bridge connects the Luxembourg district Pfaffenthal with the Parc Pescatore. For this pedestrian bridge, the architects of Steinmetzdemeyer architectes urbanistes used HAVER Architectural Mesh as side and ceiling cladding. Due to the fact, that the used stainless steel mesh MULTI-BARRETTE 8123 can be used as fall protection, further railings are not required inside the bridge.

Cable Mesh MULTI-BARRETTE shines with a special elegance. The woven cables give flexibility and structure to the mesh, while the rods provide stability and create homogenous reflections. Stainless steel wire mesh is maintenance-friendly, maintenance-free, non-flammable and translucent due to the semi-transparency, so that additional light sources are not necessary during daytime. In addition, due to the open area of 64%, the cable mesh MULTI-BARRETTE 8123 allows an undisturbed view of the Kirchberg and Pfaffenthal.

Haver & Boecker supplied ready to install wire mesh elements with mounting system consisting of round bars, eyes bolts and pressure springs.

In early 2019, Jaguar Network and DCforDATA inaugurated the new data center at Rockefeller Avenue BioPark in Lyon. All important people from business and politics met for the opening of the high-performance data center, which is dedicated to host sensitive data from biotech, medical technology and industry 4.0 sectors.

A powerful data center
Based on three-tier architecture, the "Rock" data center meets the most stringent requirements in terms of operation and plant security. With 800 spaces on almost 4000 m², the new data center meets the highest standards in the industry.

New data center with HAVER Architectural Mesh
Woven wire mesh from Haver & Boecker was used for the façade cladding of the new computer center in Lyon. The HAVER Architectural Mesh <link _top>MULTI-BARRETTE 8123 chosen by the architects of m@d - Maillard Philippe acts as effective sun protection and aesthetic cladding for the grey concrete façade. The stainless steel wire mesh plays with light and shadow and creates an optically light, transparent shell on the façade, which produces a wide variety of metallic light reflections depending on the position of the sun.

Due to its semi-transparent geometry, the used cable mesh MULTI-BARRETTE 8123 is very suitable as an external sun protection. With an open area of ~ 64% it allows good air circulation, which prevents heat accumulation in front of the concrete walls.

The data center building was designed so that it can be converted into a fully functional office building without major structural changes to the façade. In order to meet the requirements of fire protection, some of the 43 mesh elements were provided with rectangular recesses, which serve as fire brigade accesses.

Haver & Boecker supplied a total of 2,642 m² of wire mesh and was responsible for the installation of the up to 4 m wide and 17 m long façade elements.

The façade cladding of the Imagerie Médicale Ducloux in Brive la Gaillarde, France, was realized with metal mesh from Haver & Boecker. The HAVER Architectural Mesh MULTI-BARRETTE 8123, favoured by the architectural office Dhalluin Peny, acts at the same time as an effective sun protection as well as an aesthetic cladding for the glass façade.

Due to its semi-transparent geometry, HAVER Architectural Mesh is very well suited as exterior sun protection. The wire mesh MULTI-BARRETTE 8123 reflects the UV rays and, with an open mesh area of ~ 64 %, allows good air circulation, which prevents heat accumulation in front of the glass facade. Despite the solar control function of the façade cladding, there is a good view to the outside and the rooms inside are provided with sufficient daylight.
Functionality, aesthetics & sustainability: In addition to its function, the sun protection façade impresses with its simple, timeless design. The metal mesh plays with light and shadow, creating a visually light, transparent envelope on the façade that produces a wide variety of light reflections depending on the position of the sun.

Stainless steel wire mesh from Haver & Boecker is maintenance-free, corrosion-resistant and can be recycled at the end of a long lifetime. This, in addition to other things, makes the metal mesh façade a sustainable solution.

The implementation of this project posed a number of challenges, particularly due to the fact that the mesh elements could only be installed during the holiday period. This time constraint required precise planning and coordination to ensure a smooth execution of the project. In addition, the old building was to be structurally optimised in order to integrate the new façade cladding. This project shows just how HAVER architectural mesh can contribute to the functional improvement of protective measures against sun rays.

Thanks to its semi-transparent geometry, MULTI-BARRETTE 8123 cable mesh is ideal for use as an exterior sun protection. With an open mesh area of roughly 64%, the cable mesh reflects undesirable UV rays and allows an effective circulation of air, which prevents heat congestion in front of glass front buildings, for example. Yet despite its excellent sun protection capability, the façade cladding allows a clear view to the outside and the interior rooms are flooded with a sufficient amount of natural light.

The effectiveness of sun protection façade is equally as impressive as its simple, elegant, classic design. The metal mesh skilfully displays light and shadows creating a seemingly delicate and transparent shell on the façade while generating a myriad of reflections depending on the angle of the sun.

The stainless steel mesh used by Haver & Boecker is maintenance-free, corrosion-resistant and can be recycled at the end of its long service life thus making the metal mesh façade a sustainable solution. Haver & Boecker supplied a total of 490 square metres of wire mesh comprising completely ready-to-install mesh elements including the mounting equipment.

In November 2004 - for the first time in the USA - HAVER & BOECKER covered a façade of a parking garage in cooperation with our US based sister company W.S. TYLER.

The “Neil Avenue Parking Garage” with 983 spots is the latest construction project at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. 40 000 sqft of our MULTI-BARRETTE now offer gloss and security to the building.

The bottom two photos show how transparent wire cloth will become with illumination from the back.

The architectural concept for this parking garage was first designed by Antoine Predock, New Mexico (www.predock.com), who complemented the look of the parking garage with the attached Larkins Hall. The technical realisation and the final design was done by Moody Nolan in Columbus (www.moodynolan.com).

The University Library of Nitra received a facade of wire mesh elements type Multi-Barrette 8301. The elements are ~ 1.31 m wide and installed polygonally and therefore create a homgenuous second skin of the circular building.

It creates a light, transparent skin through its large open area.
This wire mesh façade serves as effective sunscreen and enhances the building's appearance at the same time.

In total HAVER & BOECKER supplied 920 m² of mesh in ready-to-install panels and supported the local installation company during the installation.


Building of the year 2011
The University Library of Nitra won the competition “Building of the year 2011”.

Among other things, the façade cladding made of stainless steel wire cloth convinced the jury. It is an effective sun protection and it enhances the building's appearance at the same time. 

In order to make the parked cars less visible from the main roads, the dense MULTI-BARRETTE 8124 was chosen for the west and north elevations.

The east facade, which is interrupted by a pedestrian bridge in the center, is covered with the more open MULTI-BARRETTE 8301.

The mesh elements have a maximum of length of 18 meters and are suspended from the top using using triangular brackets. Using wire connectors the elements are secured to round tubes, which are located behind the mesh. The intermediate mounting levels are located on each floor of the car park. With the use of eyebolts each element is precisely pretensioned at the bottom brackets.

Besides the ready-to-install panels HAVER & BOECKER supplied all brackets and the intermediate round tubes for the substructure and assisted the local contractors during the installation of the mesh elements.

Additional elements are used at the pedestrian bridge. Please review page 2 to get further information on this application.

To also get an optical connection between the pedestrian bridge and the car park, wire mesh elements made from MULTI-BARRETTE 8301 form the edge of the bridge ceiling.

In this area connections to the substructure are only possibly at both sides of each element. For a proper support round tubes with a diameter of 60 mm are integrated in each element. To receive these tubes at the top HAVER & BOECKER supplied specially designed brackets. Using tensioning bolts, which are integrated in the round tubes, each element once again can be precisely tensioned at the bottom brackets.

More than 70 single elements have been installed at this bridge. The standard dimension is appr. 2000 x 900 mm.

Challenge:

• Create a car park facade which extends the building
• Large extending elements cannot have intermediate mountings

• Development of a special tensioning system that meets the structural requirements

The stairwells of the car park are clad with stainless steel wire cloth type MULTI-BARRETTE, which not only enhance the visual appearance of the car park, but also add to the security: Architectural Mesh as lanyard rails!

The 5,60 m long panels of MULTI-BARRETTE 8301 accentuate the artistics work in a unique way giving the room it's indivual style.

More than 29 mesh elements of varying panel sizes were manufactured and installed externally to the glazed areas. The mesh elements cover an area of over 340 m² and work effectively as privacy screens.

To protect the interior against excessive sunshine and overheating, the large windows of the library in the Spanish Ourense are covered with HAVER Architectural Mesh.

For the sun protection screen the architect Jose Manuel Casabella Lopez chose the cable mesh MULTI-BARRETTE 8301. With its open area of 66 % it acts like an elegant transparent cladding.

A special feature of the eight meter high façade cladding are the diagonal wire mesh elements, which are not placed parallel to the façade. Due to the optical overlaps of the diagonal wire mesh elements, moiré effects appear at the façade cladding.

In total Haver & Boecker supplied 678 m² stainless steel wire mesh, including the proven mounting system consisting of round bars, eye bolts and pressure springs.

Stainless steel wire mesh is also used in the car park architecture to transform the functional buildings  into well-lite design objects. Both indoor and outdoor HAVER Architectural Mesh stands out due to an elegent appearance, and in doing so meets the highest demands of safety, stability and weather resistance. Stainless steel wire mesh ensures a bright atmosphere that brings together transparency and design in a unique way.

The public parking garage Obilicev Venac in the exposed city center of Belgrade also relies on woven wire mesh from Haver & Boecker. The parking garage was reopened on the first of July 2017, after a twelve-month renovation. The car park with its 804 parking spaces is located in the eponymous street Obilicev Venac next to the pedestrian zone of Knez Mihailova Street. The buidling is the perfect choice for those who are looking for a parking lot and a relaxing day at one of the nearby cafes or for a walk across the Kalemegdan Park.

The Obilicev Venac parking garage is one of the first green car parks with LEED certificate in Belgrade. Besides the façade cladding made of stainless steel wire mesh type MULTI-BARRETTE 8301 from Haver & Boecker, the car park has received varoius features such as sun collectors, charging stations for electric vehicles and motion sensors for the LED light. In addition to 970 m² of stainless steel mesh, the façade of the parking garage was designed with vertical slats in the roof area as well as with colored and perforeated fiber cement penals.

Haver & Boecker supplied in total 40 ready-to-install wire mesh elements for the façade cladding including the proven mounting system.

Energy City is located in Qatar, between the commercial and residential area of the Dafna coastal region and the Lusail development district. It is the first business centre in the region dedicated to the hydrocarbon industry. Over 90 office buildings, a mosque and the headquarters of the Energy City of Qatar (ECQ) are located on the 72 hectare large area.

Wall design with HAVER Architectural Mesh

Inside the office building the wire mesh <link _top>MULTI-BARRETTE 8301 was used, which covers the wall like a transparent veil.

Haver & Boecker supplied more than 3.000 m² of ready-to-install wire mesh elements in various sizes and designs. Due to the openings, special shapes with sloping edges were manufactured and provided with a special fastening system.

Flexibility and transparency: the decisive challenge

A railway bridge is rarely visually appealing. It must primarily be stable, function for a long time and allow easy maintenance of the technical installations. Between Norrström and Söderström in the centre of Stockholm, two railway bridges with associated bicycle and pedestrian bridges from the 1950s were renovated. Getingmidjan, the busiest railway line in Sweden, is used by around 300 trains every day. The bridge had reached the end of its technical service life and bridge superstructures as well as the track itself had to be replaced to ensure sustainable traffic in the future. The difficulty here is that the railway line between Stockholm Central and Stockholm South runs through some of the Swedish capital's most culturally sensitive and valuable water and urban landscapes.

With years of planning, architect Kenneth Hilden from Sweco Architects, in cooperation with the client Trafikverket and many other involved parties, planned the renovation down to the smallest detail. To ensure that technical maintenance could take place without any problems, the architect opted for visually appealing cladding with stainless steel mesh.

The railway bridge was clad with cable mesh MULTI-BARRETTE 8301. Architectural cable mesh brings with it a decisive advantage due to its materiality: cable mesh MULTI-BARRETTE shines with its special elegance. The woven cables give flexibility and structure to the mesh, while the rods provide stability and create homogenous reflections. In the case of the Getingmidjan railway bridge in Stockholm, this means that during maintenance, the cable mesh can be rolled up and the technical equipment underneath can be checked and repaired.

Fall protection for the pedestrian and bicycle crossing

Not only the railway bridge was clad with wire mesh from Haver & Boecker. The associated bridge for pedestrians and cyclists also received a balustrade cladding made of architectural mesh. The stainless steel mesh DOGLA-TRIO 1032 was used to create an attractive railing that is a robust and durable solution.
