Facade claddings with architectural wire mesh

With metal mesh as facade cladding from Haver & Boecker, you can bestow the architecture of outer facades with a special character. As a semi-transparent cladding with excellent technical properties, the architectural wire mesh made out of stainless steel combines design with a high degree of practical use. Wire mesh facades are a shimmering building envelope with their own design vocabulary as well as noble solar protection.

HAVER Architectural Mesh offers innumerable options for a unique, functional facade cladding made out of metal. Thanks to the different mesh types, project-specific mounting solutions and the possibilities to paint the stainless steel wire mesh in colours, pictures and logos, the creative design of metal wire mesh facades is virtually unlimited.

The transparency of metal wire mesh facades allows natural ventilation and lighting. One can usually dispense with costly ventilation systems: this not only lowers energy costs but also makes a positive contribution to preserving the environment. We adapt the open surface of the metal wire mesh in such a way that project-specific requirements on aeration and ventilation are fulfilled.

Due to its precisely balanced open surface, the metal wire mesh filters sunlight and thereby contributes to a pleasant cool but also light indoor climate. Particularly in summer, the structure of the wire mesh achieves, for a high angle of incidence of the sunlight, an effective shading effect and significantly reduces warming of the building. However, according to the incidence of light, the transparent character of the wire mesh still allows the desired transparency.

Architectural wire mesh also serves as a personal fall protection system, for example on parking garages or for cladding of outside stair towers and pergolas. In these cases, selection of a suitable mesh type and an appropriate fastening solution is particularly important. Speak to us about your application and allow is to advise you.

Our HAVER Architectural Mesh can be tensioned over the full height of a facade. Therefore the substructure can be far less extensive in comparison to façade claddings with framing solutions: in order to take up the significant loads arising due to pre-stressing, wind and ice, just a load-bearing substructure for the upper and lower fastening points is required. The intermediate fastening required in the area of the floor ceilings can be designed for significantly lower (horizontal) loads. You reduce the maximum loads applied to the substructure as well as possible deflection of the wire mesh.

Stainless steel wire mesh increases the sustainability of your facade.

Stainless steel, with its high recycling rate, is completely recyclable after use. Using metal wire mesh you not only bestow your facade with an individual design – but you also increase the sustainability of your building.

A new building project or renovation?
Existing buildings can also be upgraded with metal mesh facade cladding.

Building Redevelopment

Old and new in a creative contrast

Upgrade your renovation projects optically with HAVER Architectural Mesh. Architectural wire mesh is ideally suited for the reconstruction, extension or modernisation of existing buildings. As a modern design element, a facade cladding made of wire mesh combines old and new – whether fronted by a facade or as a decorative form of protection.

Optical upgrading of existing facades

An existing building fronted by a wire mesh facade bestows it with a new, modern appearance using comparatively simple means.

The original facade remains intact.

Uniform covering for new and old buildings

During rebuilding, extension or increasing of the size of an existing building, always poses the question: how do I connect new building work to the old construction harmoniously?

The answer: An additional wire mesh facade combines new building work and the old construction in a modern way and bestows them with a unique optical appearance due to its semitransparency.

Covering and protection

One can effectively preserve an old building worth protecting against mechanical damage by applying a protective covering made out of wire mesh, without the view of the facade being obstructed.

The protective effect can be optimally adapted to the respective influencing factors through choice of the mesh type with an appropriate mesh opening and transparency.

Illumination of a wire mesh facades
A transparent stainless steel facade by day and a fascinating cloak of light by night.

Illumination of metal wire mesh facade cladding

Stainless steel wire mesh has fascinating reflection characteristics due to the material used and the structure of the wire mesh. With wire mesh illumination in freely selectable colours you can use this potential and immerse façade cladding made out of wire mesh into dynamic colourful cloaks of light.

Illuminated wire mesh facades made out of architectural wire mesh are the optimal combination of a transparent stainless steel facade by day and a pulsating cloak of light by night. During the day architectural wire mesh in direct sunlight exercises a special fascination: Transparent wire mesh facades appear partially opaque due the reflection of light and continuously change optically to something new according to the position of the sun.

The mesh illumination also uses this effect during the night and awakens the facade with LED illumination. In doing so it is possible to install the LED emitters under the stainless steel wire mesh, either partially or completely over the whole width of the facade. In darkness a static wire mesh facade becomes a dynamic cloak of light which permanently changes according to the viewpoint and movement of the viewer.

Production of the colourful facade cladding by means of pulsating colour and light compositions is individually programmable. From the multi-faceted colours of light in the RGB colour space through to dynamic white light, the creative freedom is unlimited. For example, you can immerse facades completely in one colour or illuminate them with individual light effects.

Various design ideas and local conditions require individual solutions. We are happy to discuss with you the various options regarding colours of light (RGB, just white, etc.), illumination angles (synchronous, asynchronous) and the position of the lighting.
