In fact, they made it into the Mauritius daily newspaper “l'express” in mid-1994 with a headline. But it didn’t read that positively at first ... So what actually happened?
Our customer Mauritius Portland Cement had ordered the conversion of a ROTO-PACKER® to electronics and the installation of an automatic slip-on machine. The system was unable to work while our two fitters were on site. However, as demand in Mauritius was extremely high at the time, customer voices began to be heard – even making it into the daily newspaper. All this ultimately led to the following headline: “Cement packing automation slows down delivery to Fort Georg”. The article also put things into perspective for readers, though. It was reported that the cement company had ordered a 24-hour shift for the second, manually operated packaging line in order to eliminate the bottleneck. At the same time, it declared “We’re working tirelessly to complete the work ... The dismantled packing machine previously had an output of 1200 bags per hour. Once conversion is complete, it’s set to achieve a packing capacity of 1,800 bags per hour – compared to just 1,000 bags with the manually operated machine.”
In view of these figures, readers were able to relax and read their newspapers again.
