For the Machinery Division, which had “only” existed for 87 years at the time, it was also a year of unique challenges.
This included the fact that Beumer – which had been a reliable partner to the Machinery Division in the field of conveying and palletizing technology for decades – decided to acquire Enexco, a company based in India. Beumer thus became our direct competitor, as Enexco was also a manufacturer of rotary packing systems in India. Despite intensive discussions, it wasn’t possible to resolve the competitive situation. It came to a break.
The new situation forced the Machinery Division to quickly develop into a full-liner under its own steam. The takeover of the palletizer manufacturer Newtec Bag Palletizing in Illzach, near Mulhouse, France, very quickly put the Machinery Division in a position to offer customers complete packing systems including palletizers and loading systems.
Alongside this unplanned investment, planned projects were also implemented: The subsidiary Haver Southern Africa was restructured and relocated to new offices in Johannesburg. Haver Australia was founded in Australia and a new hall was built in India to meet the demands of the market.
