This was the first development by Matthias Müller, who had joined Haver & Boecker in the summer of 1968 as a freelance engineer specializing in new developments.
His task was to develop filling devices for open plastic bags. With the Form-Fill-Seal system, the product range was expanded to include a major new area, which would later develop into a second mainstay alongside valve bag technology. With the new system, outputs of up to 1,200 bags/h for granulates could be achieved.
In September 1975, the first ROLLOPACK for filling plastic pellets was tested in full operation at the Oberhausen plant of today’s Hoechst AG. Numerous interested parties from Germany and abroad were able to see for themselves how well this new high-performance machine works. The ROLLOPACK was then dismantled and installed for further testing in the fertilizer industry at ICI in Severnside/England, where it worked to the fullest satisfaction.
The Wavin block bag system was created in close cooperation with the company Wavin PFP in Hardenberg/Holland. Wavin had developed a new type of bag, the 'Wavin Blocksack' – and Haver & Boecker the corresponding filling machine, the Blocksack machine. The new technology quickly proved to be the ideal packaging for fertilizer and plastic granules, synthetic resin flakes, salt flakes, potash salts and cat litter.
