From previous trips to this customer, it was clearly apparent that his heart beats not only for the grey powder cement – but also for fast cars. This gave him a passion that he shared with the gentlemen of the Festge family in particular. Having already had the opportunity to take a ride in an Audi S8 tuned by MTM (Motoren Technik Meyer) with 700 hp on previous visits, this trip provided the opportunity to marvel at the customer’s fleet. Even before the technical and commercial discussions about Haver & Boecker systems began, the two Oelders were given the rare opportunity to drive a BRABUS 6x6 B800. The car fans among our readers will know that this is a six-wheeled off-roader that unleashes a whopping power of 800 hp – catapulting the off-roader from 0 to 100 km/h in just 5.8 seconds.
The collection of extraordinary driving experiences wasn’t meant to end there, though. After the business negotiations had lasted well into the evening, Florian Festge and Mirko Hoffmann were informed that a table had been reserved in a restaurant for an hour later. The pick-up at the hotel was to be organised by the customer’s cousin. As the two were waiting outside the hotel at the agreed time, they heard the deafening roar of an engine approaching and saw ‘something’ with fire coming out of the exhaust pipe. It was an RS6 tuned by MTM with no less than 1001 hp. The customer’s cousin, nicknamed ‘Energy’, was at the wheel. The name said it all: He ‘flew’ with the German guests at 200 km/h through the predominantly poorly surfaced roads of Ghana – no comparison with a fast drive on a German motorway. The two Oelders experienced an incredible acceleration from 100 km/h to 200 km/h. The attempt to record this crazy ride on a mobile phone with the focus on the speedometer failed – speed and distance took their toll. Having arrived at the restaurant, they headed for the food on wobbly legs. In any case, it was an unforgettable experience for Florian Festge and Mirko Hoffmann.
