84. “Made in Germany” is still a seal of quality

With its mechanical and plant engineering and metalworking industries, the district of Warendorf is a leader in the Münsterland region and is also excellently placed in the national rankings.

Well over 11,000 people work in this sector. Oelde is also excellently represented with companies such as GEA, Hammelmann and Haver & Boecker. As a medium-sized family business, The Machinery Division is one of the hidden champions – in other words, companies that are world leaders but little known to the public and characterised by a high degree of specialisation, innovative strength and a strong export orientation.

Haver & Boecker in general, and the Machinery Division in particular, stands for the “Made in Germany” seal of quality. Every machine, every spare part and every system component that leaves the company in Oelde is a guarantee of quality, reliability, authenticity and solidity. This is not only due to the selected materials – but above all due to the highly qualified employees who are selected, promoted and trained accordingly.

The “Made in Germany” seal of quality is now almost 140 years old. Interestingly, its introduction did not actually have the purpose of testifying to quality. Passed by the House of Commons in England, the statutory labelling requirement was intended to protect buyers in England from being misled about the origin of foreign goods. However, the law soon proved to be a boomerang, as the term “Made in Germany” developed into a reliable seal of quality within a few years. It was not only large companies that stood for German workmanship, but also small and medium-sized companies. The Machinery Division is proud that its products fulfil this quality concept worldwide.
